The Agency far Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR) was established in 1989 under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a means to facilitate the development and Implementation of clinical practice guidelines that are based on current research and the consensus opinion of experts within a specific area of clinical practice.
