Like many intensive care units (ICUs), we try to follow a team-based model of care with input from all health care workers involved in the care of the critically ill patient. However, we are not perfect. Our goal is to create an environment where all health care workers feel that their voices are heard with equal say and worth. In order to do this, we need to work interprofessionally with all health care workers, as collaboration is key to our success now and in the future. Thus, we appreciate Dr Baggs’ expertise and commentary regarding our recent brief report. On reflection, the interactions that we wrote about would most accurately be described as interprofessional. Our ICU rounds include pharmacists, nurses, residents, fellows, respiratory therapists, personal care assistants, and attending physicians all weighing in on a patient’s course, recent events, and management.
