Recruiting and retaining high-quality members of the multidisciplinary critical care team was a great challenge even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, as we transition from the pandemic to the endemic phase of the COVID-19 crisis, the exodus of nurses and physicians from our profession is reaching unprecedented levels. Much has been written about potential techniques to help stem the tide, including appropriate compensation and staffing models, as well as optimizing working conditions.2–4  In this commentary, I focus on what I like to call “resilience through growth.”

Even with all the changes that are occurring in health care at the moment, no matter what phase of one’s career one may be at, there are always opportunities to look at the next stage.
