In the article “Edgar Allan Poe, ‘The Pit and the Pendulum,’ and Ventricular Assist Devices” (December 2009:29–39), there is an error on page 31. The second sentence in the second paragraph in the second column should read: All are implantable (typically in the left upper part of the abdomen) and electronically driven.
