I have been a critical care nurse since January 2007. I started my career while living in St Louis at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in a Critical Care Fellowship program for the CVSICU.
To be honest, no—I always thought I would be a dentist! After doing some job shadowing and interviewing different health care professionals, I knew that nursing was my calling. After 2 years of searching for some guidance during college, I entered the nursing program and knew immediately that I had made the right decision.
During nursing school I really fell in love with nursing. Being a nurse is not just a job for me, it’s more like a passion. There is such a true feeling of accomplishment and self-fulfillment in my daily life as a nurse—I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Working in the CVSICU gives me an opportunity...
