I have been a nurse for 7 years and a critical care nurse for more than 5 years.

I followed my mother’s footsteps in becoming a nurse. When I was young, she took me to Take Your Daughter to Work day and I saw how much of a difference she made with her patients. I wanted to do the same. I thought of nursing as a career of privilege and the pay was a bonus.

The ultimate happiness in my career is knowing that I made a difference for my patients. I’ve had a lot of families tell me that I have a good sense of what will comfort my patients; whether it be pain medicine, repositioning, or just a blanket. I really try to be aware of my patients’ needs when they can’t communicate with me.
