I have been a nurse for 22 years; 6 years as a telemetry/traveling nurse and 16 years as a critical care nurse.

When I was 11 years old, I saw candy stripers helping sick people on my soap opera, All My Children; I knew immediately I wanted to be a nurse.

The most rewarding part of being a critical care nurse for me is precepting new graduates. To be able to teach them to be caring and competent critical care nurses is the best feeling for me. To see them precept, become charge nurse, or advance to be nurse practitioner or nurse anesthesiologist makes me so proud.
