Although the intended audience for this book is nurses working in an inpatient psychiatric setting, Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing can be useful in the acute care setting. Many psychiatric nursing books address specific diagnoses and the corresponding nursing care, whereas this book focuses on specific behaviors and interventions to help manage these behaviors. The strategies discussed in this book can be applied to patients with anger, substance abuse issues, suicidal behavior, or paranoia, as well as acute or critical illness. This is an excellent reference book for any adult acute or critical care unit.
