The second edition of Advanced Critical Care Nursing has been a highly anticipated update of the previous edition edited by the late Karen Carlson. Good and Kirkwood, who were section editors for the original version, have stepped in as editors of this second edition. The intended audience of this book is the experienced nurse at the bedside or in an advanced practice role. The goals of this update were to reflect additional evidence that has guided changes in practice and to recognize these changes in the practice environment.
