Conflict is ever present in our work environment. Dr Waldman describes his experience as a Jewish physician caring for pediatric patients with cancer in an unimaginable situation, in which every interaction could be fraught with moral distress and misunderstandings of a cultural and religious nature in a highly charged political and emotional environment. Beyond the geopolitical background of this story, Dr Waldman frames the issues of care in ways to which we can all relate. This is a good read for all of us in today’s culturally diverse world.
