Evidence-Informed Health Policy provides background and instruction for nurses seeking to engage in health policy at local, regional, and national levels. A theme throughout the book is the importance of including the unique perspective of nurses in determining all levels of policy, including laws and the rules and regulations that operationalize them. To support nurses in engaging in health policy, the authors have adapted a familiar model, the Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt Evidence-Based Practice model, into a 7-step model for evidence-informed health policy. The book also provides a comprehensive but easy-to-follow discussion of government structures and processes, as well as the role of a wide variety of stakeholders in policy development.
