Who does not love the presence of therapy dogs? The author of A Dog Walks Into a Nursing Home is a clinical ethicist who decided to train her dog for pet visitation at a nursing home. Halpern’s stories about their interactions with residents are interwoven with philosophical and thoughtful discussions of “virtue” from both religious and secular perspectives. Notice that the title speaks of “the good life” rather than the “end of life,” which is what you might expect of stories from nursing homes. Additionally, the narrator of the audiobook makes it an easy listening experience.
