The first time I attended a professional nursing conference I did not know anyone there and did not network or meet anyone. Although many people enjoy the experience of attending solo, I found that it was not my favorite. A few years later, I attended the AACN National Teaching Institute (NTI) with several colleagues and became hooked on the experience of learning together. As I write this column, I am looking forward to NTI 2022 (either virtually or in person). I have started to enjoy conferences more and more until NTI is now one of the highlights of my year, and I think the key is attending with my nurse friends. I love comparing notes on what we hear, sharing the inspiration from speakers, and comparing our thoughts on our hospital’s nursing practice in light of what we are learning.
